A minor girl was allegedly raped by her 48-year-old stepfather in Patiala, Punjab.
The accused has been identified as Darshan Singh, who was living at the victim’s house for over a year. The incident came to light a few days ago when the girl complained of abdominal pain to her mother, said police.
A complaint was lodged based on the statement of the victim’s mother, here on Wednesday.
The victim in the complaint said that the accused used to sexually assault her whenever she was alone at the house, said an investigating officer.
A case has been registered against the accused under Sections 376 (punishment for rape), 506 (criminal intimidation) and the Protection of Children against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. No arrest has been made so far as the accused is absconding. However, a police team has launched a manhunt to nab the accused.
