In a heart breaking incident, violence on animals has come out in Pune’s Baner area, four stray dogs were burnt alive and 16 were poisoned eight days ago. The dogs were initially tortured brutally, dragged mercilessly and then burnt alive. It is undoubtedly one of the major violence cases against animal in the recent past and calls for unceasing punishment. FIR will be filed after the arrival of the post-mortem report as per sources. There is no trace on the perpetrators yet however a local resident said a small puppy was also burnt. “Collected skulls and whatever we could find and took it for a postmortem with help of police,” she said. People have admitted doing these activities for fun sake earlier. Several animals’ rights organization have raised alarms and called for strict punishment for such offenders. Last year, in a similar case two students from Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University flung a dog off a building in June and filmed it too. The students Gautam Sudarshan and Ashish Paul were directed to pay Rs two lakh fine each for assaulting the dog.-
