ABCD 2: Money is secondary for me, says Shraddha Kapoor

Heroines in Bollywood are vocal about the disparity in pay between male and female actors, with several leading ladies calling the difference in pay as unfair. However, actor Shraddha Kapoor says that the discrepancy doesn’t bother her. “Frankly I have not thought much about it. Our film industry is headed by male stars, not to say that female stars are not able to head films — especially with so many women-centric films doing well at the box office now. But frankly I do films because I love to be a part of them. The money you make out of it is secondary,” she says.

The 26-year-old’s last movie Haider (2014) has bagged various film awards, but Shraddha says that it is the love of the audience that makes her feel really appreciated. “There is no bigger award than the audience. The love that I get from them ... and if I get an award or appreciation from critics and co-stars over and above that, it’s like an added bonus,” she says.

Shraddha got her first big blockbuster, Aashiqui 2, with co-star Aditya Roy Kapoor and later worked alongside Shahid Kapoor in Haider, besides working with other prominent actors. But when asked about her favourite co-star, she wanted to play safe. “I have had fun with all of them. I feel that every movie is special,” she says.
