Apple likely to discontinue iPhone X by mid-2018

Apple may discontinue selling its iPhone X ahead of the launch of the second-generation model this year, according to KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Rather than discount the first-gen model, the Apple will most likely stop producing the smartphone to make space for the three iPhones likely to be launched this year- iPhone X (2018), iPhone X Plus (2018) and a mid-range iPhone with FaceID and 6.1-inch TFT display. The bringing down in price of the iPhone X will hurt the 'brand-value'of the X series given 3D sensing and OLED display are features of the new high-end model. Apple likely to discontinue iPhone X by mid-2018, Here's why The iPhone X will be discontinued around the middle of 2018 to make way for the mid-range iPhone which may be priced between $650 and $750 in the United States. iPhone X (2018) is likely to be launched at an estimated price of $999, a larger 6.5-inch iPhone X Plus at around $1099, and the mid-range 6.1-inch iPhone at an estimated price of $649 or $749. Kuo estimated that Apple would ship about 18 million iPhone X units in the January-March quarter and 13 million units in Q2, 2018. Weaker-than-expected demand for iPhone X in China has led market analysts to revise down shipments for the first half of 2018. -PTC News
