India enters semis of Asia Cup for women

Continuing their winning spree Indian women defeated Kazakhstan 7-1 in the quarter-finals of the Asia Cup Hockey Tournament for Women in Gifu, Japan today. It is India's fourth consecutive win from as many matches in the tournament.Asia Cup Hockey Tournament for Women in Gifu, JapanIndia,like Korea, had  won all three pool matches to enter the knockout stage. India had beaten Singapore 10-0, China 4-1 and Malaysia 2-0. The winner of this tournament automatically qualifies for the 2018 Women's World Cup to be held in London.Asia Cup Hockey Tournament for Women in Gifu, JapanIndia has already qualified as it got the first reserve slot after South Africa made direct qualification by winning the Africa nations Cup in Egypt last week. Though India has qualified for the London World cup,new coach Harendra Singh, is keen that team should return home with a gold medal from Gifu.
