Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has exhorted the people to follow the ideals and philosophy of the 5th Sikh Guru, Sri Arjan Dev ji, who sacrificed his life to uphold the principles of humanitarian, secularism and universal brotherhood.

In a message on the eve of the martyrdom day of Sri Guru Arjan Dev ji, Captain Amarinder said that Guru ji laid down his life for the sake of humanity as a saviour of dhrama (righteousness) and his supreme, selfless sacrifice would always remain a source of inspiration for one and all.

The real homage to the great Guru would be to follow his high ideals in letter and in spirit, and strive hard to safeguard the interests of the oppressed and disadvantaged sections of the society, said the Chief Minister.

"We must remember the underlying spirit and message associated with Sri Guru Arjan Dev ji’s  sacrifice,” said Captain Amarinder Singh, paying his respects to the revered Guru.
