Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has written a letter to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting him to constitute an organizing committee under the aegis of Union Ministry of Culture to be headed by him for the commemoration of 550th anniversary of the Prakash Utsav of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Captain Amarinder Singh mentioned in the letter that it would be most appropriate that Prime Minister head this committee to impart a sense of purpose to the efforts. He also sought special assistance from the Government of India to the State Government for both commemorative and infrastructure projects, especially in places associated with the life of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji. He informed Mr. Modi, a detailed report is being prepared and sent to him shortly. The Chief Minister apprised Mr. Modi that we are fortunate to celebrate the 550th anniversary of the Prakash Utsav of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, which falls in 2019. Captain Amarinder Singh said that the State Government had decided to commemorate the event in a befitting manner so that the teachings and message of the great Guru could be showcased before the country as well as the rest of the world. He also pointed out that a State-level Committee had been constituted to draw up an action plan and a programme of events. -PTC News-
