Bhawanigarh/Sangrur: Castigating Congress for inflicting atrocities on the State, Punjab Deputy Chief Minister S. Sukhbir Singh Badal said it was Indira Gandhi who laid the foundation stone of the Satluj-Yamuna Link Canal and captain Amarinder Singh welcomed her on the occasion to loot river waters of Punjab. He emphasized that it is the SAD, second oldest pary of the nation, which always stood up and fought for the rights of Punjab. Addressing a rally near village Jhaneri, Mr Badal said the Punjab government has unleashed an era of development and keeping in view the electorates have make up their mind to elect the SAD BJP again in the state. He said the electorates of Punjab would reject the Congress and AAP keeping in view the record achievements of SAD-BJP government and the coalition will form government for 3rd time. Cautioning the people against the false propaganda of novice outfits like AAP, he said the MP representing this district is habitual of taking intoxicants and even his party MP had complained to the Lok Sabha speaker about the "foul smell" emitting from this MPs' side. He advised people to judge a candidate from the extent of development done in the constituency. Terming SAD-BJP government as the saviours of river waters of Punjab, he made it absolutely clear that the state has not even a single drop to spare for other states. He divulged that the cabinet has already de-notified the SYL canal land and the Punjab Vidhan Sabha has also unanimously passed resolution with directions to the government, administration and employees neither to cooperate nor to help any agency in the construction of the canal. Deputy CM informed that state government has initiated various welfare schemes for all sections of the society such as Rahat scheme for trading class, health insurance for farmers and traders, pension scheme and construction of memorials catering to the religious sentiments of all sections. He also announced that cooking gas connections and chullahs would be provided to all families sans gas connections in the state within 15 days. Touching the developmental plank, Mr Badal said the SAD-BJP government has made the state power surplus, major roads are 4/6 laned, sewerage and water supply in all towns, shagan scheme, Atta Dal to poor families, free power to the farming sector was being provided at a cost of Rs 6000 crore annually. The Deputy CM announced to upgrade Bhawanigarh sub-tehsil to Sub-division status besides a college for girls and development grant amounting to Rs 5 crore for the constituency. He also announced Rs 40 lakh grant to village Jhaneri in lieu of donating land to Gaushala. He also informed that ample funds had been provided to Sangrur constituency including PGI outreach cancer diagnostic center, 4 lane concrete highway, grants for sewerage and water supply and better road network. He assured that no dearth of funds would be allowed to hamper the developmental projects in the district. Earlier, he Deputy CM inaugurated a slew of development oriented projects such as a new bus stand at Sangrur, meritorious school at village Ghabdan besides inaugurating the 4 laning project worth Rs. 487 crore from end of Sangrur bye-pass to the beginning of Patiala bye-pass at NH-07. Mr Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa MP, MLAs Parkash Chand Garg, Gobind Singh Longowal, and Iqbal Singh Jhunda aslo spoke on the occasion. Among others present on the occasion included special principal secretary to Deputy CM Manvesh Singh Sidhu, Gurbachan Singh Bachi AM Powercom, Ravinder Singh Cheema Vice chairman Mandi board, district president SAD Teja Singh Kamalpur, DC Jaskiran Singh and SSP Pritpal Singh Thind.-
