Chandigarh: Smart parking app launched, glitches remain
UT Administrator-cum-Punjab Governor VP Singh Badnore launched the smart parking mobile app here today after much delay.
With no payment facility, vehicles being booked despite lots showing no space and no notification regarding booked space the app seems to be a mere formality for now.
The company reportedly was supposed to provide a smart parking system under which it had to launch an app.
With the application one can book parking space in advance and pay through the app later on reaching the point, along with looking for parking spaces, rates and underutilized car parkings.
Arya Toll Infra Pvt Ltd had claimed that with this app, one will be able to see space available at parking lot and the user will be able to book space online.
Sandeep Bhora, incharge of the paid-parking firm, said, “For one month, our emphasis will be on raising awareness about this app. Once it starts being widely used, we will incorporate this advanced payment facility in the app. Secondly, when we will revise the rates, the app will automatically not allow booking if there is no parking space.”
Meanwhile, at the launch, Badnore said new smart parking technologies enabled commuters to see current car parking information, rates, restrictions, hours of operation and most importantly, vacancies in real time.
