Chandigarh: Specially abled children to take part in 4th International Yoga Day

Chandigarh: Specially abled children to take part in 4th International Yoga Day Children from Society for Rehabilitation of the Mentally Challenged will take part in the 4th International Yoga Day to be held on June 21, Chandigarh. The event will be organised by the Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (Ayush) department at Sector 17 Plaza on Thursday. “For the first time 25 specially abled students, who have been trained, will be participating in the event,” a senior officer of the Ayush department said. Around 5,000 people are expected to be present at the event, which will start at 6.30 am till 8 am. Union minister Smriti Irani will be guest of honour and Chandigarh administrator VP Singh Badnore will be the chief guest. “The budget for the event will be Rs 40 lakh, which will be spent on yoga mats, T-shirts, eight LED screens, drinking water, 16 loudspeakers, stage decorations, 10 single-seater VIP sofas and carpeting at the Plaza,” the officer added. Last year we had spent Rs 30 lakh on the event, he said. The Government College of Yoga Education and Health is teaching yoga at 31 centres across the city, registration for which is free.For the event, prime minister (PM) Narendra Modi’s address will be telecast live. Asanas will be performed as per the national protocol. Chandigarh hosted the first yoga day event in 2016 presided over by the PM. As many as 30,000 people had taken part in that event.
