Deepika carries historic roles beautifully: Madhuri Dixit
Calling Deepika Padukone among her favourites, Madhuri Dixit said the actor is a natural fit in historic characters.
Deepika has been mired into a huge controversy regarding her latest period drama, "Padmavati", where she plays Rajput queen Padmini.
Various fringe and political groups have raised objection at the portrayal of the Rajasthani queen in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali-directed film. Deepika and Bhansali were even subjected to death threats a few weeks ago regarding the film.
When asked about her favourite female actor, Madhuri, who was present at the Lux Golden Rose Awards, named Deepika, Alia Bhatt and Priyanka Chopra.
"I like Alia, Deepika and Priyanka for different reasons. I like Alia because because she experiments a lot with her roles and she is a very good actress. She is extremely natural in front of the camera.
"There's Deepika, who isextremely gorgeous and carries off historic roles very beautifully. She hasthat aura. Then there's Priyanka, who is fabulous. I just love her as anactress. Put her in any role and she does it so well," she added. PTI
