Divers have entered a northern Thailand cave to retrieve last 4 footballers and their coach, trapped in a flooded cave on Tuesday. Heavy Rains was seen as an obstacle in this tough mission, but the good news is that the eight of the boys extracted are in ‘Good Health’. Rescuers hope that it would be the final day of the mission to free them. The rescue operation started at 10.08am local time on Tuesday. The first eight boys freed in rescue operations on Sunday and Monday are admitted at a hospital in the nearest city to recuperate. Heavy rains continue to downpour on Monday evening and Tuesday morning. Authorities said that preparations for the final rescue mission were unaffected. The head of the joint command centre coordinating the operation said, “You have seen the rain so you might be wondering – preparation for the third operation has been underway since early morning and If everything goes right, we will see four kids and a doctor and three Seals that have stayed with the kids will all come out,” he said. “Four plus one coach, so it’s five.” Two rescue missions on Sunday and Monday safely recovered four boys each; the eight were taken directly to the hospital. But getting to the boys and back is an 11-hour round trip. A lot of safety measures have been taken to rescue these boys after the former Navy Officer dies in the operation. Each boy would wear a full-face scuba mask, plus wetsuit, boots and a helmet. Two Navy divers would accompany each boy with the lead diver carrying the boy’s air tank. A diver would guide the boys through the cave using an 8mm static rope. Each boy, in turn, would be tethered to the lead navy diver. -PTC News
