Final verdict on Ram Rahim case on Aug 25: Punjab Haryana High Court

The court in Panchkula, Haryana has been hearing the case against Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh. It is the oldest rape case pending at the Panchkula district courts, which involved two victims. The case has been dragging on for around 14 years now, as the FIR was registered in 2002. In the case, Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was accused for sexual abuse of a follower. The sect chief has been accused by a former female follower of raping her more than once inside the sprawling Dera campus on the outskirts of Sirsa town in Haryana, 260 km from Chandigarh. In the court hearing this morning, the Punjab Haryana High Court decided to give its verdict on August 25th. The authorities in Punjab and Haryana on Wednesday asked the police in both states to be on alert ahead of a special CBI court's verdict in an alleged rape of a 'sadhvi' by Dera Sacha Sauda sect chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh. He has also played fraud with the court and dismissed his four applications in a rape case. The directors general of police of both states were likely to meet home ministry officials on Wednesday in New Delhi to discuss the matter and seek central forces if the verdict goes against Singh. The CBI investigated the matter against the godman. The sect management has been refuting all charges against Singh. Despite murder, conspiracy and rape charges against him, Singh enjoys Z-category security from the Haryana Police and moves around in a fleet of bullet-proof luxury SUVs. What’s to see is – if Punjab Haryana High Court declares him accused on August 25th. He has millions of followers in Haryana, Punjab and various other places. -PTC News
