Gorakhpur: Former Cook of IAF Officers' Mess Charged for Possessing Secret Information

EX- Indian Air Force (IAF) officers' mess cook has been arrested for possessing secret information like take-off schedule of the IAF's fighter planes. The former cook has been charged by police under the Official Secret Act (OSA). The accused Shashikant Jha is a native of Banka district in Bihar. He was arrested by IAF on July 5 and later he was handed over to the police for the crime. Praveen Kumar Singh, the Circle Officer, Crime, Gorakhpur said, "Air Force officials on July 5 apprehended Shashikant Jha, who was in an area he wasn't cleared to be in. He was found possessing confidential documents." He further told that many agencies including the Anti-Terrorism Squad are investigating this case. The Police have also recovered some documents including Map of IAF station in Gorakhpur and schedule of the Fighter planes and other programs. During interrogation, the police found that Jha worked as a cook at IAF officer’s mess. He has also worked as a personal driver for IAF Officers, where he used to overhear their conversations and used to take notes of the confidential information. Police said, “he had no permission or pass to enter the Air Force colony when he was caught by the Air Force security (on Saturday).” -PTC News
