Haryana Roadways bus driver smokes hookah while driving in Delhi

A driver of Haryana roadways was caught smoking hookah in a moving bus on a camera, has gone viral following which the Delhi government has lodged complaints with the Transport Commissioners of the national capital and Haryana. Haryana Roadways has dismissed the driver, identified as Om Parkash, based on the recommendations of an internal probe that found him guilty of risking the lives of passengers by smoking hookah while driving. The driver of the Haryana roadways violated the Cigarette and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) 2003. "This is to bring to your kind notice that we have come to know through social media that a driver of Haryana Roadways Bus No HR55W 9038 has been violating laws during his driving very proudly without any fear while passing through Delhi. "Smoking hookah in public service vehicle therefore violating Section 4 of COTPA 2003," Dr Arora said in his letter. Dr Arora said that by smoking hookah while driving, the driver is putting the lives of passengers at risk. The duty inspector of Delhi depot, Chatter Singh, informed the daily that initially the driver was placed under suspension for violating the norms, after the video emerged. However, he was dismissed from the service a day later, the report said. -PTC News
