HC bans crackers on New Year’s Eve, weddings this season
Punjab and Haryana High Court has ordered ban on bursting crackers till January 11, 2018 during marriages and other celebratory occasions including New Year's eve also. Taking up the save environment case, A division Bench of the HC comprising Justice Ajay Kumar Mittal and Justice Amit Rawal passed the order on submission of amicus curie Anupam Gupta about still prevailing practice of bursting of crackers during marriages as part of celebrations. The next date of hearing is fixed for January 11, 2018. Referring to the wearing of pollution masks by Sri Lanka players on the pitch during the Delhi match, the Bench asserted that it could not close its eyes to the problem. -PTC News
