Bura na Mano Holi Hai! Is that a consent for men to harass women?

Here it is a festival of zero consent- Holi. While people celebrate with colors and greet each other, here is an addition to the festival- the no consent. Just because its holi does it give you the right to throw a balloon on anyone? Well some people think they can! Bura na mano Holi Hai!!! Every year, this one sentence allows people to harass, stalk, and abuse. And this year, sadly, it is no different. Students of Lady Shri Ram College are a harassed lot ahead of Holi. While many students have complained in the past about men from the locality throwing water balloons at them, this time, balloons filled with semen are being thrown at them. The matter came to light when one student wrote on social media about being attacked with a semen-filled balloon at Amar Colony market on Sunday. She wrote how the balloon hit her, and her kurti and leggings were soiled. She was shocked, but was later told by a friend that it was becoming increasingly common in the area. So she took it up with other students of the college. The college’s woman development cell met on Tuesday over this, and even Delhi Police promised to conduct self-defence workshops for the students from March 8. Holi is supposed to be the festival of colours, a time when people come together to play and laugh, forget and forgive, and repair broken relationships. But probably not in India for women, like its the case for every other thing as far as women are concerned! -PTC News
