Ramanjit Singh Romi detained in Hong Kong

Ramanjit Singh Romi has been detained by Interpol in Hong Kong on Friday. Hong Kong-based Ramanjit Singh Romi was arrested in Nabha in June 2016. He and his aides were booked after stolen cars, a pistol and fake credit cards were recovered from them. His passport was confiscated. Romi, a native of Bathinda, jumped bail and escaped to Hong Kong after around two months of his arrest. He had been arrested by the Nabha police last June with a stolen white Honda City car carrying various weapons and fake number plates. The police booked him under sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act while stating in the FIR that Romi, who had then come to India from Hong Kong, was “supplying money to the gangsters lodged inside the high security jail of Nabha”. Yet, he was sent to the same jail when Nabha itself has another jail. His “easy” arrest and ending up in that jail has also raised questions. Three of those men have been rearrested, and their interrogation has revealed that Romi was the one providing the money and help to eventually join him in Hong Kong. -PTC News-
