Instead of providing jobs, Congress govt is terminating employees: SAD

Chandigarh: Taking a serious view of termination of 268 employees of Punjab Technical Education Department, Shiromani Akali Dal alleged that instead of fulfilling its manifesto, the Congress party has started victimising the already serving employees. This is a betrayal with the youth of the state whom they have promised 25 lakh jobs. The Shiromani Akali Dal urged Punjab Chief Minister to implement The Punjab adhoc, contractual, daily wage, temporary, work charged and outsourced employees' welfare Act, 2016 which was passed by the Punjab Vidhan Sabha Assembly to regularize about 30,000 employees of the State Govt. and stop terminating the existing employees on flimsy grounds. In a statement issued to the press, the Shiromani Akali Dal Spokesman and former Education Minister Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema said that it is unfortunate that during its last tenure the Congress Govt. has imposed a blanket ban on all type of recruitment and this time again instead of initiating recruitment they have started terminating employees. SAD Spokesman said that the Shiromani Akali Dal–BJP Government had decided that services of 'A', 'B' , 'C' & ‘D’ group of employees, who are working on ad hoc, contractual, daily wage, temporary, work charged or outsourced basis under the State Government or its entities for a continuous period of not less than three years shall be regularized by the State Government or its entities. This act has been notified in the Punjab Government Gazette on 24 Dec. 2016 but as the general election to Punjab Vidhan Sabha were announced in the first week of January 2017, therefore, this important decision for the welfare of the government employees could not be implemented. “But now since Congress Govt. has come to power, it is their duty to get this Act implemented. He reminded the Congress Party that they have also stated in their election manifesto that afer coming to power they will regularize all adhoc and contractual employees recruited through transparent systems and procedures. But after forming the government you have forgotten this promise,” added Cheema. Dr. Cheema further said that what to talk of the promise of providing job to one member of each family, the ruling party has miserably failed even to implement an important Act of legislation already passed by the state Assembly. — PTC News
