International Women's Day: Delhi to get its own women-only SWAT squad.
Women selected by the police department have already undergone the strict commando training and are part of the constabulary, as per sources. Now, all they need is the SWAT training!
Training that will be given to these women include- Climbing multi-storeyed buildings within seconds to rescue hostages, Rescuing hostages from DTC buses or the metro.
Glock pistols, MP-5 sub-machine guns, hand grenades and Kalashnikov rifles will also back the SWAT squad.
“They can spring from a resting position to action, fully armed, within a minute of an alarm,” said a police officer, referring to the special training method.
“Physical fitness, mental strength and expert weapon handling are key to their survival in combat...each of them are trained to shoot and kill using one shot,” added another.
The SWAT team also learnt how to defuse explosive devices at the Delhi Police Training school. -PTC News
