In Jalandhar, Capt sanctions works worth Rs 363.43 crore

Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh on Thursday sanctioned works worth Rs 363.43 crore for the city ahead of the civic polls. On his maiden visit to the city after taking over as CM, Amarinder announced 50 per cent reservation for women in civic polls. Amarinder said Rs 1,000 crore would be allocated for using river water for four main cities.He said the government intervention through regulator in private universities would only be to the extent that they imparted good education.He said most services in the state would be delivered via mobile apps. He said there would be one-time settlement for construction in illegal colonies.The Chief Minister said Rs 480 crore for the ongoing works had been released, and tender bidding for this would start soon. He said the government is coming up with a sports university.When confronted on the recent power tariff hike, he said he also felt bad. Speaking on the occasion, Local Bodies Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu said Capt eSewa would start in MCs. The minister said Rs 1,500 crore would be released for sewerage work. -PTC News
