Kathua gets around Rs 169 Cr annual plan outlay

Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir government has granted around Rs 169 crore plan outlay for the border district of Kathua for the financial year 2017-18. The District Development Board (DDB) of Kathua, today met here under the chairmanship of state Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Choudhary, and approved around Rs 169 crore annual plan outlay for the district, an official spokesperson said. The approved capital plan proposal includes Rs 11.47 crore for regular schemes, Rs 22.10 crore as loan component, Rs 122.92 crore central share and Rs 12.58 crore as state share for centrally sponsored schemes, the spokesperson said. Union Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office Jitendra Singh, Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh were among those who attended the meeting. Physical and financial achievements of last year's plan outlay were reviewed and targets for the current financial year was also discussed in the meeting. Chairman of the board Sham Lal asked the executing agencies and departments concerned to give further push to development works and welfare schemes and said the district administration should avail maximum benefit of the funds under various flagship schemes of the Centre. Speaking on the occasion, Jitendra Singh said all grievances at district level should be registered online so that redressal and monitoring of these can be done in a transparent manner. He also emphasised on timely completion of development works and urged the officers not to terminate these works at any cost rather take help of any elected public representative so that the issues can be resolved amicably. The deputy Chief Minister apprised the board that 50 per cent of the budget outlay has been disbursed in advance to give pace to development works, while the remaining half will be given in May. — PTI
