Amritsar: Ahead of Trudeau's visit, 5 lakh rupees looted from a Money Exchange Shop

5 lakh rupees looted from Money Exchange Shop on Batala Road, Amritsar: Amid security arrangements being made for Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's visit to the holy city, a case of robbery came to light on a busy road in Amritsar in broad day light. The incident took place on Batala Road, Amritsar. 4 youth robbed 5 lakh rupees from Bhatia Money Exchange Shop on the Batala Road at around 5:30 pm. The owner of the shop was tied, beaten and threatened. 'Four youth came in my shop and locked it from inside. They threatened me and asked me for all the money i have and later tied me with tapes and ropes so i don't call for help. I amount they took was around 5 lakh rupees, we will be able to confirm that once we get to speak with our bank manager,' said the owner of the shop. 'I recognise the robbers, and the CCTV footage has captured the entire incident,' he added. The police gave a "regular" statement saying, 'we are looking into the matter and we ll catch hold of the accused at the earliest.' The incident raises questions on the security arrangements made by the officials and police in Amritsar, Punjab ahead of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's visit to the holy city on February 21. -PTC News
