'Sidhu must be booked under murder charges,' complainant files an argument in SC

Navjot Sidhu Road Rage Case: Complainant files argument in Supreme Court A complainant files an argument in the Supreme Court in the murder case against cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu in the 1988 Patiala road rage case on Thursday. The complaint said that Navjot Sidhu must be booked under murder charges, he should also be held guilty in the road rage case. The petition was filed by a family member of the victim, Gurnam Singh who died in the road rage case. The complainant also questioned the role of the police in the case and said that the police did not take any action immediately in this matter. The Supreme Court on April 18 reserved its verdict on Cabinet Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu’s appeal against a Punjab and Haryana High Court verdict sentencing him to three-year imprisonment in a 1988 road rage case. Mr Sidhu had allegedly hit a 65-year-old man, Gurnam Singh, on the head during an argument on a road in Patiala on 27 December 1988. Gurnam Singh died in hospital. A key point of Mr Sidhu's defence has been to question the conclusion that the death took place due to the assault. The verdict is expected before May 18.
