Nawaz Sharif, Maryam and Safdar file Appeal Against Avenfield verdict in IHC

Nawaz Sharif, Maryam and Safdar file appeal against Avenfield verdict in IHC Pakistan former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, and Captain (retd) Safdar Awan filed an appeal against the verdict in the Avenfield Properties corruption reference in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday. They have also requested the court to declare the accountability court’s verdict null and void.  They have also requested to release the three convicts on bail. Also read: Former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif attacked by Mob in London To get the legal papers signed, Nawaz Sharif’s lawyers were in Adiala jail in Rawalpindi on Saturday. As there was no time to reach court on Saturday, the appeal was filed on Monday. Nawaz Sharif was sentenced ten years in jail while his daughter got eight years of imprisonment. Sharif got £8 million fine (Rs1.3 billion) in the corruption, while his daughter Maryam got a £2 million fine (Rs335 million).  Additionally, Nawaz's son-in-law Capt (retd) Safdar was given a one-year sentence without any fine. Sharifs two were convicted on July 6 in the Avenfield properties case linked to the Sharif family’s ownership of four luxury flats in London. -PTC NEWS
