'No arrests made, nor has the sugar mill been sealed,' Harsimrat Badal on Molasses spillage

No arrests made, nor has the sugar mill been sealed: Harsimrat Kaur Badal After the Spillage of Molasses has caused trouble to the entire state and contaminated rivers, no arrests have been made, nor has the sugar mill been sealed till yet said MP Bathinda Harsimrat Kaur Badal in a post on Monday. No arrests made, nor has the sugar mill been sealed: Harsimrat Kaur Badal 'It is shocking that even days after the sugar mill owned by the family of Punjab chief minister’s Religious Advisor - Paramjit Sarna indulged in wilful discharge of industrial effluents in the Beas river, no arrests have been made in the case. Nor has the sugar mill been sealed till yet,' Harsimrat Kaur Badal said. 'It seems the irreversible damage cause to the environment and the death of thousands of tonnes of fish mean nothing to the Congress government. Polluted water is a major cause of cancer in the Malwa region. The Sarna family has not only caused damage to the environment but is also playing with the lives of people by releasing industrial effluents into the Beas river. Since the Congress government has failed to take any action in the matter, I request the National Green Tribunal and the Environment ministry to intervene and ensure the culprits are brought to book,' she added. 'No arrests made, nor has the sugar mill been sealed,' Harsimrat Kaur Badal Countless fish and other aquatic animals were found dead in Beas river on Thursday due to water contamination reportedly caused by release of a chemical fluid from a sugar mill situated on the shore of the river. The fluid came from ‘Chadha Sugar Industries Private Limited’ that is located at Kiri Afgana village near Sri Hargobindpur in Gurdaspur district. Yesterday, water mixed with molasses reached Rajasthan feeder canal. An alert was issued to villagers not to use canal water for drinking purposes. -PTC News
