OPS takes oath as Deputy CM as both camps unite

The two rival factions of AIADMK led by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and O Panneerselvam have announced their merger in their party head-quarters, today. A decision is likely to be taken on the “formal expulsion” of V K Sasikala and her family members, a key demand by the OPS camp that still remains unmet. In a resolution on August 10, the chief minister’s camp had already delegitimised Deputy general Secretary and Sasikala’s nephew TTV Dhinakaran leading to the merger. “O.Panneerselvam will be convener for this party,” Edappadi Palaniswami, popularly, saidas he announced the merger. “Our first priority will be to retrieve the two leaves symbol. We will fulfill all the promises made by Amma.” He also said an 11-member coordination committee will run the party.  O Panneerselvam takes oath as Deputy Chief Minister at Raj Bhawan after which E Palaniswami and O Panneerselvam shake hands after the ceremony. "Gandhi cap, Kashmiri cap and now buffoon's cap. Have you had enough or do you want more? Tamils, please answer," actor Kamal Hassan tweeted.
