A large number of parents of the Yadavindra Public School (YPS) have been enraged by the manner in which the school director made their children stand in the sun for an entire day to solve a case of theft that had taken place inside the school.
The parents have sent letters to Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, who is also the patron of the school seeking his intervention.
The parents have also written letters to chairman of the school management Raja Malwinder Singh, member of the management committee Maharani Preneet Kaur, child rights groups and ICSE board in protest against the incident. However, no action has been taken against anyone till date.

According to the parents, all students of class four to nine were not allowed to attend classes on March 5 and instead were asked to stand in the sun till 4:30 pm after three cases of theft were reported inside the school.
They said while some of the students even fainted during the punishment, the teachers were not allowed to help them. All this had been done to make certain that the theft would himself reveal his identity.
They said while the school gets over at 3:40 pm their wards were not allowed to move out of the school stadium till 4:30 pm causing panic amongst parents and when the children returned home they complained of pain in the legs.
The parents demanded that immediate action must be taken against the director who also used unparliamentarily language against some parents when they met him in his office to convey their displeasure over the treatment meted out to their wards.
Chairman of the school management board Raja Malwinder Singh, when contacted,  said he was satisfied with action taken by Headmaster of the school. He added that it was the matter of teacher and student and he would not interfere in it. He has refused that there was much heat outside as temperature was only 26 degree.
