Prime Minister to announce“Good news” for Farmers

Another “Good News” to farmers by Prime Minister would be coming soon in a few days according to Minister of State Agriculture Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. Only a few days ago, Government has announced great news for farmers by giving a hike in the minimum support price (MSP) for Khraif crops. The Centre is planning to address the farm distress ahead of general elections and in that connection; the centre hiked the MSP for paddy by Rs 200 per quintal, while, summer-sown crops was increased by up to 52 per cent. Shekhawat told the sources on Sunday that, “The government is committed for the issues of farmers and a robust mechanism can be developed in such a way that farmers can be benefited more.” He also added that, “For this, the Prime Minister has asked the NITI Aayog and we all are working together and can say that the PM would give another good news to farmers in coming days.” He told the sources that centre has already increased the government guarantee limit to lender banks to provide the credit limit to the National Agriculture Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED) for the acquisition of pulses and Oilseeds under the price support scheme (PSS). Minister of State Agriculture Gajendra Singh Shekhawat was in the Jaipur to inaugurate 'Rapeseed-Mustard Conclave-2018' on Sunday. While speaking on farmers at the Conclave-2018, he said that, the government has taken several initiatives to double the farmers’ income of 2022, which is their prime target. Various initiatives would also be taken to enhance infrastructure and other facilities. He also added that not only Market reforms, but the use of technology is also an important factor to increase the farmers’ income. Solvent Extractors' Association of India (SEA) holds the two-day conclave to talk on the issues being faced by industry, farmers’ and trade. More than 300 delegates from across the nation attended the conclave. -PTC News-
