PM Narendra Modi will be present at Red Fort for Dussehra celebrations
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday greeted the nation on the occasion of Vijaya Dashmi.
"Greetings to everyone on the auspicious occasion of Vijaya Dashmi," Modi tweeted. The PM will take part in the celebrations at New Delhi's Red Fort ground today evening.
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh will celebrate the occasion with the jawans of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police at Joshimath in Uttarakhand.
Vijaya Dashmi, also called Dussehra, marks the culmination of the 10-day long Navratri festival, in which Goddess Durga is worshipped.
It is also believed to be the day when Lord Ram defeated Ravana and is celebrated as a festival of victory of good on evil.
