A 22 year old Russian model jumped from the sixth floor of a hotel in Dubai when a US businessman threatened her with a knife, as per official reports. She broke her spine apparently in a bid to save herself from a rape attempt.
While the victim, Ekaterina Stetsyuk survived the fall, she ended up breaking her back in the bargain.
"A man, a foreigner, attacked Katya, grabbed her neck and put a knife at her throat. My daughter tried to save her life, she had to jump from the sixth floor. She has serious injuries, she can't walk," the model's mother Inge told Dailymail.
Ekaterina's friend Irina Grossman also told the paper, "She survived by a miracle. Her spine is broken, several vertebrae were crushed."
She is currently in the hospital, but due to a counter complaint by the businessman, who said that she was the one who attacked him, she is apparently in custody.
There were also some unverified reports claiming that the model was working in Dubai as an escort, but Ekaterina's mother, said "My daughter is a well-known model in Irkutsk. She left for Dubai for a month, where she had a contract... They want to make her guilty.”
The man, who reportedly runs businesses in Dubai, was also apparently detained at the airport while he was planning to leave the city. -PTC News
