Sachin Tendulkar holds first screening of his movie for Armed Forces

New Delhi: Much like his cricketing career that has been well-adorned with records, legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar on Saturday held the first screening of his biographical movie 'Sachin: A Billion Dreams' for an audience full of personnel from the Indian Armed Forces in the national capital. "The day I decided to do this movie, the first thought was I'll hold the first screening for the personnel of the Indian Armed Forces," Tendulkar said, after the screening of the movie. "Whenever I went to bat, it was me as an individual. But there were also three teams involved - one was in the dressing room, one was praying for me at home and the third was the billion plus people. So, today when I stand here as an individual, I take this opportunity to thank the Armed Forces for whatever they do for the country. They are the real heroes," he added. "It's a wonderful movie. I have lived through it. I have seen Sachin's career and it's very inspiring. I told him that he is releasing his movie on May 26 - the very day we started air operations at the Kargil," Air Chief Marshal B.S. Dhanoa, who joined Tendulkar for the screening, said. Directed by James Erskine, 'Sachin: A Billion Dreams' is about Tendulkar's personal journey from a young boy to a cricketing legend. The movie, slated to release on May 26, has been declared tax-free in Kerala and Chhattisgarh. —ANI
