Amid Water crisis, 'STOP VISITING SHIMLA' plea goes viral on the internet

A 'plea' is being circulated on the internet to save Shimla during the major water crisis that has affected normal life for the eighth consecutive day now. The plea is asking people to stop visiting the Queen of Hills this season and guard it from tourism to rejuvenate its resources. Here's what the plea says- "A Plea to everyone who loves mountains, its about time all of you stop visitng Shimla for a while. The city is facing acute water shortage, because of increased tourism, bad water management and bad winters earlier this year.  The residents are barely getting water to drink, and at a few places, sewage water is being supplied to the houses. And it'll only get worse as the tourists throng the place in large numbers during June and it ll make life really difficult for the locals, who already have to wait in long lines to get their water. And until it rains and snow in adequate amount, the only way out is not putting added pressure on Shimla. So don't travel to Shimla for a while, and help the mountains recover their water levels. " In another note here's what people are sharing - Meanwhile, residents of Shimla are helping circulate the plea to as many people as possible with notes to save water not just in Shimla but world wide. Shimla is witnessing a major water crisis for the eighth consecutive day in most parts of the city as taps run dry forcing people to people to buy water at exorbitant prices and smaller hotels to cancel bookings. The drinking water supply in the Queen of Hills has depreciated to less than 50% of requirements due to dry winters. -PTC News
