The security personnel also busted a hideout of the outfit, which consisted of 10 temporary huts, near Sonking village. "We got information that NSCN (IM) Major Damting Tangkhul, along with his cadres, were trying to terrorize people and extort money in Sonking and Kharsang areas. The Jairampur Battalion of the Assam Rifles swiftly launched an operation and surrounded the hideout," Konwer explained.
