Vikas Barala and Ashish Kumar sent in police remand for two days Vikas Barala arrested, in police remand for 2 days Vikas Barala, son of Haryana BJP chief Subhash Barala and friend Ashish Kumar were arrested on Wednesday in the Chandigarh Stalking Case. The 23-year-old Barala and 27-year-old Kumar surrendered at a fortified Sector 26 police station on a rainy afternoon amid high drama and huge media presence They were produced before court this morning under non-bailable sections – 365 and 511. Drunk and reckless the accused Vikas Barala and his friend Aashish were charged with stalking and attempt to abduct a 28 year old girl Varnika Kundu, daughter of an IAS officer in the middle of the night last week. They were briefly arrested on Aug 5. “The arrests and new charges are based on legal opinion, new pieces of evidence in the form of CCTV footage, statement of witnesses and the map of the route,” Chandigarh director general of police Tajender Singh Luthra said. Chandigarh police chief Tejender Singh Luthra added, the crime scene will be recreated, the accused will be taken to the route where they stalked the victim. —PTC News
