Whatever Decision SC Gives on SYL, We Will Not Spare A Single Drop For Others: Deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal
Chandigarh: Punjab Deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal has reiterated his government's stand on Satluj-Yamuna Link Canal issue saying his govt will not spare a single drop of water for other states. Mr Badal, who is also the president of the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), said the govt and his party are committed to save Punjab's waters and safeguard the interests of their people. “Punjab’s economy is agri-based and it cannot afford to compromise on its waters which are the lifeline of agriculture,” he added. He also lashed out at the Congress party and its Punjab leader Captain Amarinder Singh over Satluj-Yamuna Link Canal issue. The SYL case shows Congress Party and Gandhi family's inherent hatred towards Punjab, he said. Mr Badal also dared Capt. Amarinder to resign from Congress Party instead of Punjab Assembly as its tenure is anyways ending. Supreme Court is slated to announce its verdict on SYL case today.
