New Delhi: The murder case of a man, whose body was found from the railway tracks near Bengali Market here, has been solved with the arrest of the accused from Palwal in Haryana, police claimed today. The body of the man, aged around 25-30 years, was spotted by the passersby on February 11. The body with its throat slit and a wound on the head was sent for post-mortem and efforts were on to ascertain the identity of the victim, said DCP (New Delhi) BK Singh. Rs 20,000 in cash were also found in the shirt pocket of the victim. There was a tailor's tag on the shirt of the victim which hinted that he belonged to Palwal in Haryana. Posters were put up in Palwal as well as in Delhi, including in local trains, said the officer. On February 19, a man named Satish approached Barakhamba police station where a murder case was registered in this regard and said he believed that the victim was his brother-in-law Pushkar. He confirmed the identity of the victim after seeing the body in the morgue, said Singh. Police learnt that Pushkar was last seen with one Deshraj on the evening of February 10 before he went missing. Deshraj was picked up by the police from Palwal and he confessed to killing Pushkar during interrogation, said the officer. The accused told the police that Pushkar had borrowed money from him and refused to return it whenever he demanded it. Thus, he had hatched a plan to eliminate Pushkar. The accused also told the police that he, along with Pushkar, had come to Tilak bridge from Palwal on a local train on February 10. As they were walking towards Shivaji Bridge along the railway tracks, he again demanded the money to be returned. When Pushkar refused to oblige, the accused hit him on the head and later, slit his throat with a knife, said Singh. — PTI
