116 policemen suspended over 2014 firing in Pakistan Pakistan Authorities have suspended nearly 116 police officials including top officials. According to the media reports, this is in connection with the killing of people during a public protest in 2014 in Lahore. Also Read: 4,749 minor girls raped in Odisha in 4 years: Patnaik In 2014, police opened fire to disperse the Awami Tehreek (PAT) workers protesting outside the residence of Canadian-Pakistani cleric Tahir-ul Qadri in Lahore. This killed nearly 14 people and injured more than 100 people. Since then, the PAT chief has been demanding justice in the case. He was asking to suspend all the accused policemen for free and fair investigation. Amjad Javed Saleemi, newly appointed Inspector-General of Police removed 116 police officers including DSPs, inspectors and the investigation officers from their post in connection with 2014 firing. They suspended officers have been directed to report to Police Lines in Lahore for further orders.
