12 killed in suicide bombing in Jalalabad, Afghanistan
At least 12 people have died when a suicide attacker detonated his explosives at the check post in the eastern Afghan City of Jalalabad. The provincial governor's spokesman Attaullah Khogyani said that mostly civilians have been killed in the suicide attack and at least 5 people have been injured. Many shops and vehicles were close to the explosion and were destroyed in the blast. Health director Najibullah Kamawal said that some of the burnt victims were taken to the hospital nearby in the city. The Islamic State group claimed the attack that killed 12 people in Jalalabad on Tuesday. The Islamic state has also claimed a series of high casualty suicide bomb attacks in the province in the recent weeks. Jalalabad, the capital of Nangarhar province, has been the scene of numerous attacks recently as armed rebels step up activity in the restive region. -PTC News
