1,500 Mansarovar pilgrims stranded, 2 dead in Nepal
Over 1,500 Kailash Mansarovar pilgrims from India stranded in Nepal More than 1500 Indian pilgrims undertaking Kailash Mansarovar Yatra are stranded in Nepal due to heavy rains and bad weather. While two pilgrims, Satya Lakshmi Narayana Subba Rao from Andhra Pradesh and Narayanam from Kerala have died. According to External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, “About 525 pilgrims are stranded in Simikot, 550 in Hilsa and another 500 are stuck in Tibet side”
The pilgrims are stranded in the Nepalganj-Simikot-Hilda route, some 423 kilometres form Kathmandu, Indian Embassy said. Sushma Swaraj also said that Indian Embassy in Nepal has deployed representatives in Nepalganj and Simikot to help pilgrims in this adverse situation by providing proper medical facilities and ensuring enough food.We have requested Government of Nepal for army helicopters to evacuate stranded Indian nationals. /4 #IndiansStrandedInNepal — Sushma Swaraj (@SushmaSwaraj) July 3, 2018
The representatives deployed in simikot are also in touch with Police authorities check post in Hilsa. They will take care of all the pilgrims by providing them support.
