Pravasi Bhartiya Divas begins today at Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh
The 15th edition of Pravasi Bhartiya Divas begins today (January 21) at Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. It is a three-day-event which is being organized in Varanasi for the first time. This year, the theme of the event is ‘Role of Indian Diaspora in building New India’.

Youth Pravasi Bhartiya Divas and Uttar Pradesh Pravasi Bhartiya Divas will be held today, i.e. on opening day. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially inaugurate the event tomorrow (January 22). Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth will be the Chief Guest at the event tomorrow.

Several other world leaders of Indian origin will also take part in the event. They will also share their insights on the theme. On Wednesday, President of India Ram Nath Kovind will address the gathering in the event. He will then give Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Awards to the winners.

According to the media reports, more than 7,000 NRIs are expected to participate in the event.
