1984 anti Sikh genocide: Supreme Court seeks CBI reply on an appeal filed by Sajjan Kumar’s against Delhi HC verdict
The Supreme Court on Monday Supreme Court issued notice to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on an appeal filed by former congress leader Sajjan Kumar against Delhi HC verdict .

Sajjan Kumar had filed a plea in Supreme Court challenging the Delhi HC verdict , sentencing him to life imprisonment for criminal conspiracy to commit murder in a case related to killing o five Sikhs.

A bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi will hear the plea filed by Sajjan Kumar on Monday. A bench of the Supreme Court has sought a reply from CBI within six weeks. The case has been adjourned for hearing.

On December 17, a division bench of the Delhi High Court had convicted congress leader Sajjan Kumar and Co – accused Mohinder Yadav and Kishan Khokhar in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots case related to killing of five Sikhs Gurpreet Singh, Kehar Singh, Narender Pal Singh, Raghuvender Singh and Kuldeep Singh.

The High Court had sentenced sentenced Sajjan Kumar to life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 5 lakh was imposed on him. Sajjan Kumar had surrendered before court on December 31. He was sent to Mandoli Jail, where he is serving life imprisonment.
