Kashmir: 2 CRPF Jawans Killed, 2 Others Injured In Militant Attack 2 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans were killed in a militant attack in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Friday. In the militant, 1 CRPF and 1 civilian were also injured and were rushed to the hospital. Militants opened fire on CRPF men of Battalion 96 deployed at Achabal Chowk in Anantnag and escaped. A security officer said “The CRPF men along with police were on law and order duty during which unknown militants opened fire at around 11 am resulting in injuries to three personnel. They were evacuated to hospital; however, two of the injured jawans succumbed to their injuries.” The two CRPF jawans killed were identified as assistant sub-inspector Meena and constable Sandeep. Soon after the attack, the area was sealed off by the forces to trace the militants involved in the attack. Lashkar-e-Toiba, a Militant group has claimed responsibility for the attack. The Kashmir was observing a complete shutdown to observe Martyrs Day when the militant attack took place. On this day, 22 men were shot dead by soldiers of Kashmir's Dogra ruler outside the Central Jail in Srinagar on July 13, 1931. The day is also observed as a public holiday in the strife-torn state. -PTC NEWS-
