2 Naxals killed in encounter in Chhattisgarh

Two Naxals were gunned down in an encounter with District Reserve Guard (DRG) in Dantewada district in Chhattisgarh on Thursday. According to media reports, the Naxals killed in the encounter were involved in the killing of BJP MLA Bhima Mandvi earlier this month.

A team of the District Reserve Guard (DRG) was out on an anti-Naxal operation. When the patrolling team was advancing through Daulikarka village, an exchange of gunfire broke out between the two sides. After the encounter, bodies of two ultras and a 315 bore gun were recovered from the spot.

Besides this, a militia member of Maoist was found injured at the spot. He was shifted to a local hospital.  The search operation was still underway in the region. The encounter comes amidst polling in three Lok Sabha constituencies in Chhattisgarh, namely Kanker, Rajnandgaon and Mahasamund. - PTC NEWS
