2 of 5 involved in Balwinder Singh murder case arrested by Delhi police
Delhi Police encounter: After Delhi Police arrested five suspected terrorists following an encounter in the Shakarpur area, the DCP Special Cell Pramod Kushwaha said two of them are involved in the Balwinder Singh murder case.
The DCP Special Cell Pramod Kushwaha said that "Five people were apprehended following an encounter with Delhi police in Shakarpur on Monday morning. Two of them are from Punjab, three from Kashmir."

"Their arrest shows how ISI is trying to link the Khalistan movement with terrorism in Kashmir," he said.
"Gangsters are being used for target killings. It serves 2 purposes - creating communal disharmony and demoralising people who stand against terrorism," he said, adding that 2 of the 5 people were involved in the Balwinder Singh murder case.
Two of them have been identified as Gurjeet Singh Bhura and Sukhdeep. Three pistols, 2 kgs of heroin and Rs 1 lakh in cash have been recovered from their possession.

"These two have linkages to one Sukhmeet, who is Gulf-based, and some other gangsters. These are gangsters and have linkages to Pakistan based ISI operative," he said.
Adding, he said that "There are 2 components of this matter. One component is from Kashmir, other is of Punjab gangsters. The Punjab gangster component is involved in target killing and the Kashmir component is involved in drugs, they sell drugs and indulge in terror financing with it."
On being asked if the arrest of five people in Delhi was linked with farmers' protest, he said "This case has no connection with the ongoing protests at the borders (of Delhi)."
This case is being investigated by Punjab Police, he said, adding that "They (both Gurjeet and Sukhdeep) have confessed that the weapons seized are the same that were used then (for the murder). But this is a matter of investigation."
