Chandigarh, October 29: A 22-year-old Anjali from Nakodar in Jalandhar was found dead under mysterious circumstances in the wild growth behind Garden of Silence at Sukhna Lake on Friday afternoon.

As per the sources, body of Anjali was lying on the ground near a tree behind Garden of Silence and strangulation marks were found on her neck and dupatta was wrapped around her neck. Moreover, several blood stains were also seen on her face and clothes as well. But in the absence of CCTV cameras in the area where the body was found, police have no lead on the suspects or how the crime unfolded. The investigation is underway and body has been sent to Government Multi-Specialty Hospital, Sector 16, for post-mortem examination. Meanwhile, while addressing the media sources, as per the investigation senior police official said, “There are strangulation marks on the neck, but only the autopsy will ascertain whether these were self-inflicted (suicide) or caused by someone else and if the blood from the stains belongs to the deceased.” While investigating the body, police also found a notebook and a pair of slippers near the body. The notebook contained mobile numbers of family members of deceased, which helped police in identifying her. However, no suicide note was recovered from the scene. As per the statements from family members, 22-year-old deceased was disturbed from past few days and left home on Thursday afternoon after informing them that she was headed to a church in Jalandhar leaving her mobile phone at home.
