3 militants, 5 civilians killed and 43 others were injured in Kulgam Five civilians were killed and forty-three others were injured when an explosive substance went off near the encounter site in Kulgam district on Sunday. The Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was launched in Larnoo area, following which a gunfight erupted that turned into an encounter. It was a joint operation launched by Army and police after receiving information that some militants were hiding in a house. During the operation, a heavy exchange of fire from both sides was reported. The authorities urged the public not to visit the place as a thorough search was underway. Some explosive substance went off killing five civilians and injuring more than dozens of people. The dead civilians have been identified as Ubaid Laway son of Mohammad Maqbool Laway, Uzair Ahmad, Mansoor Ahmad, Talib Maqbool of Laroo, Tajamul Ahmad of Denew Bogund and Irshad Ahmad of Shurat. The injured were rushed to the hospital nearby. At least three militants were killed in the gunfight." Police recovered arms and ammunition from the encounter site. -PTC NEWS
