COVID 19: Oxford Vaccine could be the first one to be tried in India

There is an ongoing race amongst the countries to produce the vaccine and cure the world. India has been planning to try the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine as first shot against COVID-19. It might be available to Indians by the end of 2020. A lot of locally developing candidates are also being watched closely and if it clears the trials, the vaccine might enter the market with a gap of few weeks. However, Pune-based 'Serum Institute' is the manufacturing partner of British pharma giant AstraZeneca who are trying to produce Oxford vaccine. It has already entered the advance phases of human trial i.e. Phase 2 and 3 in India and are ahead of all the other local candidates who have also entered the human trial stage. Yet it is likely that British Oxford vaccine might get the nod first.
