5 killed, 5 injured as jeep falls into gorge in Himachal Pradesh
Five people died and five others were injured as a jeep they were travelling in fell into a gorge in Mandi district in Himachal Pradesh on Thursday. The accident took place at Padhar in Mandi district.

According to police, the deceased--two males and three females--were natives of Ropa village in the district. At the time of the accident, 10 people were travelling in the jeep, of which five died on the spot. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital at Padhar. The condition of the injured is stated to be critical.

The victims had hired the taxi to visit the area and after travelling a few kilometres the driver lost control. As a result, it rolled down the 250-metre-deep gorge.

Locals rushed to the spot and mounted a rescue operation besides sounding the administration.
