Coronavirus Punjab: At least six patients died at a private hospital in Amritsar on Friday night allegedly due to a shortage of medical oxygen.
The deceased included five patients who were battling COVID-19.
As per the report, the authorities of Neel Kanth hospital in Amritsar said that they informed the district administration of the shortage of oxygen two days ago.

An official said that they have informed the families and asked them to shift the patients to other hospitals.
Meanwhile, the Punjab Health minister Balbir Sidhu said that a probe by officials will ascertain the exact reason for death in Amritsar hospital. He denied the allegation that private hospitals were not being given enough supply of medical oxygen.

The shortage of oxygen in Amritsar was reported three days ago when a Government Medical College shifted to its buffer stock.
Later, the district administration had claimed that the supply of oxygen had been restored.
As per the report. the shortage of oxygen has partially been as the administration diverted the entire supply to the Government Medical College which is handling the maximum cases of coronavirus.
Meanwhile, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) alleged that private hospitals were not being given oxygen by vendors.
